It’s raining.
That probably doesn’t sound notable to you, since I live in Oregon, but the summers here are pretty dry. This summer, though, wasn’t “pretty dry.” It was extremely dry. Dry and hot.
I know lots of people who say they could never live here because of all the rain, all the cloud cover. Despite the rain probably doing me no favors in terms of allergies or chronic illness, the rain feeds my soul.
I can handle about four weeks of summer, four weeks of intense sun and very long days and dry weather, before I long for the rain to return. This summer was worse than most weather-wise, and it was worse than most personally.
The health stuff continues. I’m exhausted down to my bones. There’s no end in sight. But the rain helps. The rain softens something in me. I’m so glad it’s back.
